I am a child of the 70's and 80's. Last night I finally was able to fulfill a life long dream and go see Fleetwood Mac in concert before someone died or went into retirement (Christine Mcvie was not there,I love her dearly, but I consider her non-essential. Harsh? Yes, but reality.). So I went to my first concert in 10 years.
They Rocked.
Going in we decided to play Fleetwood Mac bingo. Astonishingly and disappointingly enough there were only 5 women dressed in the full long hair, flowy-sleeved dress bit, there was only 1 really drunk girl who had to be carried out and we only smelled illegal substances twice. And for once, we went somewhere and neither of us saw any one we knew.

They played some of their greatest hits like "Gypsy" and "Rhiannon". It was nice being in a concert where everyone as pretty much over the age of 40. It was mellow and everyone was polite (until the parking lot) and there were no mosh pits.
I am getting old though; It was TOO LOUD.
They sounded great. Though Stevie looked a little sleepy through the performance on the Jumbotron until she sang Stand Back. Lindsey delivered like a mad man.
After 2 rousing encores we filed out into the parking lot where madness ensued. We saw one fistfight and two accidents.
For a night where I actually stayed up past 10. It was pretty fun.

Glad you had a fun night! I smiled when you said it was TOO LOUD. Something must happen to us around age 40...I think the same thing at concerts now. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun evening. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I have to admit, I haven't been to a concert in YEARS. Glad you had fun.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I am a child of 80's hair bands and just found out Poison and Def Leppard are coming this summer! WooHoo!

ReplyDeleteOh man, I LOVE Fleetwood Mac!! Good memories of their music in my life. Congrats on getting to go while the band is still together, that's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteLast summer I went to music festival in New Orleans. It was interesting as I'm older now and had not been to a concert like that in many years. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks sometimes music is a bit too loud.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see The Mac! I'm collecting fan reviews of the tour across the web and have linked to yours on my Stevie Nicks site.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see them but I must wait until May when they finally make it to California.
That sounds like fun. Everytime I hear a Fleetwood Mac song it reminds me of my college roommate. That is ALL she would play.
ReplyDeleteI love Fleetwood Mac.. so glad you had fun! Concerts ahh it's been awhile...

Where did you see them? We had an urban legend (which we think is true) that Stevie Nick stayed in our neighborhood for a few weeks last year. She was across the street and kept to herself...not sure about all the details but it was interesting.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY Fun!! I agree, it's all about Stevie.:) I love them. Saw them only once in concert. How great that you went, enjoyed, and stayed up past 10! :)
