Trash to treasure Tuesday. or just practicing...

My good Friends, Kari and Kijsa are hosting a Trash to treasure Tuesday.
I thought it was the perfect time to show off the practice job I did on a smaller piece I already had (for the big china cabinet project.). I always think it's good to do it on an actual piece instead of a practice board,
as it gives  a beter visual of curves and lines.
This is the piece I have that I keep all of those bits and pieces that fit no were else. I love the storage, but it was so heavy and dark looking. Plus, with the kids doing daily laps, it has taken quite a beating, and it's one of those paper board numbers.
After I finshed it, I liked it, but it helped me decide,
the color I had picked was  way too light and  brown/tan after the glazing.
and I want something a bit more dark cream /beige maybe even a bit of khaki thrown in!.
It was a good practice though!

I love the carved look on the drawers - so much more obvious now that it is light. I love light furniture much more than dark but still haven't the energy to do anything with mine. Maybe one day I will be inspired enough by you to have a go.

You did an amazing job with that piece. It's so much more impressive in the light color. Will be good to do a bigger piece now. Linda

Beautiful piece!! I really like it. The great thing about decorating is that if you don't like it, you can move it, paint it or get rid of it!

Even if you don't think it's exactly the right color...I love how the carving comes out! Very pretty.

You're right, it looks better a lighter color! I bet it's great for storage!

I love that piece, but like you, I think I would like cream better. Now are those drawers carved? or is that something applied to those drawers? I'd love to do something like that myself. Inquiring minds want to know.

I liked both of them! Did you do that to the front drawers or did it come that way? It looks like it might be paper? Anway, it's a beautiful piece!

Hi Jen!
How have I overlooked your blog? I am so sorry... you comment so faithfully on mine and I appreciate every comment you make! And I've been meaning to tell you I love your little profile picture! I think your paint job turned out terrific. I love the lighter look and we are totally on the same wavelength right now. If you wanted to change it up maybe add some dark beige paint here and there? just an idea but I think it looks great as is. I will be back my dear!!!

Aren't paint transformation fun?!?
But now I'm wondering, do you repaint this cabinet first or go on to the china cabinet?

You can come "practice" at my house any day, LOL!

The carving really "pops" in the lighter color.

I really like this piece either way with all the carving on the front. It is gorgeous the way you painted it. I like that the dark shows through in places. You are good at what you do! :)
