Turn an old picture into a bulletin board tutorial

After I made-over my bulletin board ,I decided I just had to have  a bigger one... like this.
But were would I get a bigger one from? Then, I thought..
What about taking an old picture with a great frame that was.. err.. borrowed from someone's.. er.. trash..?What would happen if I...

Painted the frame..
Cut a roll of cork to size and then hot glued it right to the picture( I doubled mine up. It was thin cork.)
I laid out my sheet music in the pattern I liked,
Used double-stick tape ,
then hot glued the entire thing to the cork once it was all together..?

I think I would end up with one bigger than the one I had!
Then, what if I decided that on Thursday,
I would list my old bulletin board

and this table top one,
and this one,
and this hanging one ( of old encyclopedia pages) at my Etsy store? What do you think would happen?
:) Jen

  3. Love your idea to cover up the old picture. Great frames that are inexpensive are getting harder to find.

We also use a lot of vintage music. It looks great on everything!

  6. I love how handy old, ugly paintings that we would never actually hang on the wall in our home can be! Especially when they are free from someone else's throw aways. ;) The character of your board is so fun...and bigger and better for your inspirational delight!

  9. Beautiful bulletin boards! I never thought to use sheet music or a variety of different kinds of paper to cover it! Think of all the garage sales I could get frames at?! Thanks for visiting my site and for the kind comments! I look forward to being in blogland for awhile!

  10. thanks for the comment on our blog. I too love a good old unique frame. I have no problem gessoing right over an ugly old painting or reproduction - especially if it already has a lot of cool texture and then creating something new!

  11. Beautiful! I have to tell you - I am thinking about using this idea to re-do our church bulletin boards. I love the idea of using old hymns and aging them a little for the background.

I love "borrowing" items from the trash. :)

  19. Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.
