Can you be in love with a piece of furniture? I am...I found this small settee at a thrift store waaaay back in November. $75! And it had such a great shape, I couldn't pass it up !My Mom was nice enough to store it for me (thanks Mom! ) until I could save up enough money to have it reupholstered (thank goodness I have a wonderful friend like this who has her own sewing and upholstery business.)
It was a great deal but the blue fabric didn't go with anything I had and it was really stained from wear and tear (At least there were no odd smells ;). The upholsterer guessed it had last been done in the late 60's. Plus, since I wasn't really sure where it came from. I wanted new foam in the cushions and a total strip down.
But some new fabric....
And it's like new and I am iiin loooove...
How can you not love a piece like this?
It didn't even cost a 1/3 of that for me to cover it! How crazy is this?! I guess it just shows there is hidden potential in everything once you look past the exterior.

It's so ironic that you should post this today - I have been contemplating buying a French Provincial Settee from Craig's List for $75 (doesn't even need reupholstering). Still haven't decided. Then I read this, and of course I think everything is a "sign" from God! Btw, now I'm even more envious - you bring furniture to life with your gift of painting AND you have a friend who reupholsters - NO FAIR!!!!

They look like pieces of furniture my mom still has, but hers look like new.
