Yep, this is it. How I cut my grass.
See, I told you I was a hippy.
She's a vintage Aerolite. Oiled and with sharpened blades; she runs pretty well with two speeds, stop and go. Dependable, no gas required. She's so dependable I should probably name her... Any suggestions?
It's a great work out and I can do it when the kids are outside and still hear them.
I know I look barefoot, but I promise, I do have shoes on. And one thing I have learned, if you cut the grass in a skirt to keep cool, bees will sting you in other places than just your bonnet...

I love it!!! You get your chores done and you workout at the same time. You look adorable in the photo!!
ReplyDeleteJen, you are WAY cool! Think of all the calories you are burning when you do that. Most people pay good money to get a workout like that! You are getting it free and have maintained your yard at the same time! Woo hoo! YOU GO GIRL!
ReplyDeleteYou are so fabulous - if we didn't have an acre and a half, I would use ours, which sits sadly unused in the barn...
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of you though!
xo
I'm so glad you're hippie...we too use a similar mower. (Our lawn is much smaller though.
ReplyDeleteYou're just too cute, and green to boot! (little rhyming here).

Jen, you are sooo green cutting your green!
ReplyDeleteshe seems like a margaret to me. your yard must be tiny. i can't imagine doing that for our 7 acre yard. but, if i did a little each day and the kids helped, it might work.
ReplyDeleteYou're so darn cute!! Love that you cut your lawn with a push mower - I have lots of happy memories "helping" my dad use ours to cut the lawn when I was little.
ReplyDeleteI have actually been thinking about these lately, and thinking about getting the hubby to get one!
ReplyDeleteI think she looks like a "Lucille" actually!
damn girl...i never look that cute when i mow the lawn...
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome...I love your skirt also.
ReplyDeleteAdorable you are!! love the mower, if I had one of those i would mow my lawn too...oh better not tell that to the hubs! Cute skirt too!
ReplyDeleteI love those manual mowers! I wanted to get one, but KD went with electric. I guess he's the one mowing ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd you look so cute mowing in your pretty skirt.
Well I have to agree with the masses. You do look darn cute cutting the grass in a skirt and doing it GREEN style. Very hip!
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable! I actually was a hippie...an original! I have one of those old lawn mowers. Mine has rust all over it and vines climbing up it.

Penny
I want one of those! And a skirt like that. And a nice, big garden hat! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour always good for a laugh! Personally I think your needing a goat to "mow" your lawn~ Then you'd just have to pick up the poops.... hmmm maybe stick with mowing~
ReplyDeleteThat's going green with style! She sure looks like a Mo to me!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Saving the earth one push at a time. Your picture is adorable.

Ouch! I sat on a bee last week that was hiding in the grass. Wow, that stung. Do they still make those type of mowers or do you have to find vintage?
ReplyDeleteHow very "green" of you! Do you always look that cute when you cut the grass?!
ReplyDelete:) T
My hubby and I used to cut our grass this way too!! (when we had about 4 feet of it in NC ;))
ReplyDeleteOooo I love your mower! I've been wanting one of those forever and my husband says NO WAY *smiles* he used one as a kid and said how hard they were to push but you're looking like you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteso they sting where you don't have your bonnet eh? LOL...good to know! For sure good to know. Sorry if you had to find out the hard way. ouch.

I LOVE IT! That's all we had growing up. I always liked the sound it made...MUCH better than the sound of a power mower!!!! And what a great workout too!!! Thx for the memories!
