I finally painted!
It's only taken me 5 years, but I finally had the living room repainted from an awful lemon yellow to something much tamer; I will tell you though, it's almost too light for me, but I am learning to love it.
I know it's trendy, but I am not a "white" person. I love the look, but just never manage to get there. I see a white wall or space and have a burning, raging desire to put color on it. Maybe it's the artist vs. blank canvas thing in me... but I am much more curiosity shop than shabby chic.
This as my fresh painted, blank canvas.
I wanted a HUGE mirror on the wall like Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn, but didn't really have the extra $500 sitting around...
but I did have $15 for the Dollar store.
So I bought 15 $1 mirrors.
Who said I can't have a big mirror for $15?? I saved so much durn money, that I bought me, myself and I some new drapes from Anthroplogie.
After all, they were on-sale!
Jen
p.s. drape pics coming soon!
p.p.s.. I don't know if the red pillow really goes, but I loooove that pillow. Crazy huh?
p.p.s.s. this one's for you Tara.

ReplyDeletemary
that was a very clever way to fill the large area above the wall for a good price! I love curious sofa AND shabby chic. How do you choose?
ReplyDeleteI think I like the look of lots of little mirrors more than one big one...This looks really great.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your new window treatments...donna
I'm with you....have never been much of a white fan...I'm trying to do a little more in my farmhouse...maybe a little more creamy color than stark white...I think you did an amazing job....love the mirrors...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! I love DT! :D And yeah, like you, I could never go neutral, color would s-l-o-w-l-y creep back in. LOL. Your room looks awesome, love it!

Wow! I love the wall color :), the mirrors are genius, AND the pillows are fabulous with the neutral wall. Fab!
ReplyDeleteI am blown away with your mirror idea especially since I have one of those bigggg expensive mirrors in the family room. And I love how the little ones add so much more architectural detail.....xo Lynn
ReplyDeleteForgot to say....I love the red pillow. It gives it a lil bang~
ReplyDeleteYou gotta have a little red peeking in there somewhere! It looks so dramatically different from when you first painted and put the furniture in there. I love the mirror effect. It's looking so warm and cozy now! (Me too. Put a white anything in front of me and I get busy "coloring" it up!)
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Ooh I looooooooooove your room and those mirrors look fantastic. I like the touch of red and am actually thinking of introducing some red in my living room as I have recently finished it in neutral colours. I am really pleased with room but just feel that it needs some pops of colour and I am going through a "loving red" phase at the moment :)
ReplyDeletesuper gorgeous idea! I have a huge wall behind my couch that has been needing something. This may be it!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha! The title of your blog post sounds like a lunchdate with some of my "friends", LOL! Some of them thrive on drama and will only go to a cheap place for lunch. The cheap lunch is fine with me, but the drama I would rather left at home, LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love what you did! Looks great!
Fabulous idea to hang the dollar store mirrors in mass. The look is great and you would never guess you achieved it for just $15!
ReplyDeleteThe mirrors look wonderful...very clever!
ReplyDeleteThe mirrors look fab and I love all the fluffing you did to really bring this room form good to wow!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the mirror, can't wait to see the drapes and I love that POP of red on the pillow. Great job! Deborah
ReplyDeleteThe room looks so calm and restful. Very clever with the mirrors!
