I was finally able to take a few hours out of a day or two and do some painting. I chose a 24 inch by 24 inch plywood sheet as my base.
With Christmas coming, I've been inspired by the Twelve days of Christmas in French (even though it's actually an english ditty.). Probably because everything sounds better in French. Like when you call some one mon petit chou chou and it actually means my little cabbage, cabbage.
It sounds great in French, right? But if you called someone that in English, I bet they'd call you something back even better. ;)
After the sketching, then I get to do the fun painting part.
Why I started with Day 4 I'll never know ( 4 calling birds), I guess it called to me...
I still want to paint day 1 (partridge in a pear tree) and maybe one more day besides that... Maybe I'll have to take a blog vote on it...(just any day but five guh-hooooooooolden rings !).
Also, I would love to have prints made of this picture.. does anyone know how or where I go about that?Maybe that was one of the questions I should have asked an artistic guest or two along the way...

Jen it's gorgeous! You need to paint more! I am also going to be researching art prints, but after the holidays. I know I've looked before and there are a ton online. Maybe someone will have a good reference.

Oh, I love "the twelve days" too! I osrt of have a special connection with it- my husband and I got married 12 days before Christmas, so we had a "twelve days" themed wedding reception. Each our tables was one of the twelve days. Not exactly liturgically correct since Christmas Day is supposed to be day 1, but it was really fun.
Anyway, the painting turned out just lovely! I'm sorry I don't know a thing about getting it printed!

Try searching Giclee prints. I believe you would need to send in a digital image and then they would print them on canvas or high quality paper.

I know this doesn't help you, by my local art gallery where I get some things framed has someone who makes them giclee prints from paintings, and they claim the process is relatively inexpensive...and having seen the results I can say they're pretty amazing.
And my vote is for 9 Ladies Dancing. :-)
Jen, this is gorgeous! Such a fabulous idea and I love how it is a Christmas touch, but will blend right in with your decor. All of the detail is beautiful. I think you should do a painting of a partridge in a pear tree.
