The "cat" will play!
We all need a break sometimes, don't we?
My wonderful mother took the kids for a few hours on New Year's Day. With hubby working, I started my "free time" with a trip to my Starbuck's for a decaf, a cheese and fruit treat and of course a cupcake that I didn't have to share.. with anyone.
Mine! Mine! Mine!
Then I took a few hours, by myself, to get the house back in shape.
I started in my entsy-weensty living room.
And it wouldn't be me if I didn't use the opportunity to completely rearrange things.
It felt great to bring in a fresh new look after the holiday glitz.
I left my pomegranate wreath up...I kind of like it for a bit of color.
Say bye-bye to the paisley fabric on that $20 chair.
I have a luscious tawny brown to put on it.
And I didn't want to put away my flameless candles yet; so I grouped them on a tray on my coffee table.
And put some shredded paper in my favorite nest basket but I am not sure what to put inside of it yet.
I brought out the moss to freshen up the room...
Then yesterday I noticed this on the floor.... hmm....
I think some mice have been doing some playing themselves!
Busted.. ! I am going to look for the little, green fingers!

Very pretty! I haven't even started taking my Christmas down yet. My husband likes for me to leave it up until after his birthday. Hugs,

Jen,
ReplyDeleteYour living room is just beautiful and I would love to sit there and have a cup of coffee with you. I won't make you share your cupcake though. : )
Your room looks comfortable(in a good way), yet filled with a timeless beauty. I love the wreath hanging over the mirrors--very pretty.

Looks great! I didn't know Starbucks had a fruit/cheese plate. Yum. I got the Christmas stuff down and packed, but there are tubs waiting to be stashed here and there and somewhere. I'd be happy to stay home from teaching tomorrow and work on doing just that, but I guess we didn't get quite enough snow today... Happy Twenty-Ten!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! We had a cat who liked to get up on places she shouldn't so we put flour on the surface to see where she'd been during the night: footprints told the tale! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me! I told hubby at breakfast that the tree comes down later today!

How can you look so organized? I have no children and my living room isn't nearly as organized. Wah! I'll blame the dog. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the try with candles (and those are some of the finest looking flameless candles I've seenn, by the way!). You've given me an idea for a tray with a less-than-perfect surface. Yay!
jealous. my house is a NIGHTMARE.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing gift of babysitting!
Big hugs, and a heartfelt Happy New Year!
xoxo
