I thought I would treat myself to a new lamp that I didn't have to worry about being a fire hazard. I have a lot of vintage lamps I rewire, but I thought it would be nice to have something a bit modern to spice it up a little. And new.
This is the lamp I have now. I think it's pretty, but a bit fussy.
These are the two I picked up from Homegoods to try out.
Nice, but I think a bit blah. Maybe too modern? I like the shape.. maybe it's the shade?
I don't know what I was thinking with this one, all I need is a lava lamp and a black light.
I still kind of dug the white one so I tried it somewhere else. No go.
So I am back to brave the mini-blizzard out here today for the sake of decorating.

I think I liked the first one, but hey what do I know? Isn't it frustrating when nothing works??? And then you find one and you just know that it's the one, and you get it home and IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER???
ReplyDeleteI need a closer look at the whole room, it looks wonderful and cozy!
I like the second one, as I wrote today: I'm in a less is more frame of mind, and I like the clean lines of #2
ReplyDeleteI kinda liked the first one...the brown shade adds something nice to that corner, and the glass is a little vintage-y...no? I can't believe you are out looking for a lamp in this snow! All in the name of decorating, right? ;o) ~mary~
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your lamp adventures. I like the first one (the clear glass base).

Don't you just love trying out new lamps...room to room, place to place, finding the perfect spot. I am partial to the white one.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one too. Lamps are funny, aren't they? Especially when you spend money on them. I can almost always make a yard sale deal lamp work, but an expensive one? Much more difficult.
ReplyDeleteIs your blessed Virgin statue an antique? It is lovely.
I have such a hard time picking out lamps. Guess where my favorite lamp came from? A yard sale. For $1. :) I really like the white one. Actually, I love the original lamp. I have been wanting one just like it.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Love your comment on the green one!
ReplyDeleteLove the dark shade in that corner of the first one, it really brings out your window treatments and clock faces.
Those clock faces... drool! Fabulous idea! You have the greatest 'junk' accessories. :) I'm totally going to be ripping apart clocks now! What have you DONE with me?!?

Finding just the right lamp can be tricky, Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the first one, stick with what works!:)

Might consider covering the white shade with fabric or embellishing it in some fashion.

I SO understand the lamp issue. I have difficulty finding the perfect lamps for our home.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's just the shade...

I just sold one very similar to the first one, so for me, I would go with the white one. I think it very well could be the shade that's throwing you. Maybe the shade from the green on the white would make you happy.

I like the white one too, maybe just cover the shade with something with more texture?
ReplyDeleteI like the white one. I do think that it needs some kind of embellishing on the neck of it though. Maybe a burlap bow or something. A tassel? I am sure that you could think up something as clever as you are! Love the first one too. I heard that you need to add one touch of modern in a room to make it sophisticated. I've got crystal like lamps in a traditional style in our living room.
ReplyDeleteI like the one that was there in the first place. No need to go out in the cold!
ReplyDeleteI like the first and second one! Love the white..its my fav ~lulu
ReplyDeleteGodspeed to you Jen. All in the name of decorating indeed! And just for the record, I like the white lamp.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Kim
Love the first one, with the third coming in at a distant second, just cause it's so funky. The second one was too white, stark, plain for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the "fussy" one. Two observations: The statue of Mary kind of throws the theme off and the fussy lamp needs to be taller.
