Now that we are doing my daughter's big girl room (reveal soon!), I wanted to give you a sneak peek at the little chair we are going to be putting in her little "reading nook."
I love Cabbages and Roses fabric. The next time we go visit my hubby's relative's I would love to go into the actual Cabbages & Rose's store.
It's so beautiful and serene looking on-line. When they asked me if I wanted a few yards to redo the chair in I jumped on the chance! The pattern is bunty stripe. It's a beautiful variegated navy blue stripe on grey linen. *sigh* I love linen.
before
Remember the before pic? It was a cute, little chair, it just didn't go with anything in my house, least of all the idea I have brewing for my daughter's room.
I painted the wood white. I wasn't sure if I was going to at first, but then I knew that it would make the pattern pop. I think it turned out so cute!
after
Whether to line up the stripes or not was my big dilemma... I decided that since I wasn't exactly an expert upholsterer; that I wouldn't worry about trying to make them match exactly. It looks so pretty it doesn't matter any way.
I edged it in a lightly frayed grey woven trim. I think it looks a bit less formal than regular trim, and am so happy with how it turned out! I can't wait to finish the rest of the room to show you how the chair looks in it!
The best part is, I just found out that Cabbages & Roses is now going to be in the US! They have collaborated with MODA Fabrics and produced their first range of quilting fabrics
(which I love quilting fabrics for every day decorating. My quilt shop knows me by first name). This debut collection entitled the Northcote Range was exhibited at the ‘Quilt Market’ in Salt Lake City in May and will be available at your local fabric store this Fall. You can bet I am going to be in my quilt store twice as much now.
I'll keep you posted on the room progress!

It turned out beautifully. That is wonderful news about Cabbages And Roses! I will look forward to them arriving in the U.S. ox
ReplyDeleteI love your gorgeous chair and the fabulous fabric! I hope Cabbage and Roses can also come to Canada, but in the meantime, I have lots of family and friends in the UK who I can bug to buy for me!
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking that, if it were my chair, I *might* grab a rag, with a teeny dab of silver paint and just lightly drag it over the white....just an idea, it's gorgeous as is ;-)
What a transformation!! I rather like that the stripes don't match up. Makes the chair more casual, more fun and perfect for a growing up young lady!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a difference. It looks great !!! Where did you learn to reupholster?
