The posts of Christmas past....

Today, I plan on baking cookies with my kids, and then eating them till I am sick the rest of the weekend, all while I drink eggnog,  eat pierogi's, sausage and sauerkraut, and not check my cholesterol until February :). Merry Fatmas.
I thought you might  want to visit some old holiday posts, and to be honest, I just liked the title in my own dorky-way :)

You can visit my memories of a white tree covered in plastic fruit here.

Or some of my favorite past Christmas crafts here.

or some simple holiday decorations from outside my kitchen window.

or my vintage inspired Christmas tree from 2009.

or hop in Mr. Peabody's Qayback machine to 2008 when my neighbors and I had  a holiday sign painting party (Which we all still put up every year.).

I hope you enjoy these posts down memory lane and have  a very special and blessed holiday weekend.

Jen

P.S. Thank you Dallasnews.com for mentioning my blog!

  1. Hi Jen,
I loved your posts of Christmas past...especially last year's. Your memories of your large Polish family in the basement in the city brought a smile and a tear...although my family was not Polish...I do have memories of all the great aunts and grandparents gathered together laughing and having fun...and memories of being a kid and experiencing the magic of being loved and part of a family. Your insightful comments on lessons learned remind me about what is truly important about the holidays. Great posts...all of them!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  2. Great pictures & great ideas. Thanks for sharing again. I had never even heard of pierogi's until I met my coworker who has since become a good friend. She is polish and she and her mom would spend a day making pierogi's for the entire family. A precious memory since she lost her mom a couple of years ago, but she is continuing the tradition and this year all of her siblings came over to make the famous pierogi's. Enjoy your day with your family. Sounds fun & "filling". BTW, I like the title too.

  3. I just spent the past 3 days making my Grandma's homemade perogies. They are our Christmas Eve tradition-Cottage cheese perogies with browned butter. Oh are they soooooo good =) Merry Christmas and I'm off to check out your past posts =)

  6. As a suburban kid who's huge Irish family ALL lived in the city I loved your post on your family Christmas pilgrimage! Too fun.
To this day my husband still doesn't get why I am so enamored by homes with alleys. Although he does smile remembering his aunt's south side 3 flat with Aunt Vi, Mae and Millie all stacked on one on top of the other.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
