Built-in dreaming...

I think we are finally going to take the step and build a built in bookcase in our dining area one  of our first projects of the year. We are going to use it as  a room divider and I am excited because it's actually going to give me a bit of studio/office space on our main floor in our little house. I've been looking around for ideas and these were a few I just loved on Pinterest. I was going to buy bookshelves to use, but I think it would be much cheaper to build them ourselves, and we can really make them fit our space the way we need. Mine won't be as elaborate as any of these, but they are great for inspiration!

Now we just have to work up the guts to start it :)

So many beautiful samples. I have no doubt what you choose will be amazing and suit you and your home perfectly. Sending you BIG design vibes and positive thoughts for this project to go smoothly and turn out just as you wish it to be.

Love these examples! Living in a 1940s house means we have next to no storage, but we did build in some bookcases in our kitchen extension. Good luck!

We're doing the same thing. After the major gut job on our new place last spring/summer, I couldn't begin to think about having bookshelves installed. Now that the dust has settled and we are in, I can deal with it. I have been pinning some ideas, too.

Sounds like a great idea! My daughter's hubby is just finishing up building a bookcase for their playroom. They needed a larger one. It is nice to have a handy hubby!

Great idea! I'm so thankful that I had the forsight to ask for built ins when we remodeled. They MAKE the room. I had no idea I had so many books until I started to fill them up.

Happy New Year, Jen! I love all of these built-ins. Good luck with your big project - I'm sure you will be happy when all the work is over. p.s. I wore your black rosary necklace on my trip in NYC the whole time (not that I needed much protection as there were police officers absolutely everywhere!)

Gorgeous, pinspirational (smile) examples. I want some built ins that are substantial and truly look built in. Not just like a bookshelf that I built by hand. We are slowly but surely getting there in out home office. These examples might get us a little closer.
