As a member of the Blogher book club, I get the bonus of getting free books to review. Occasionally I get a stinker, but John Green's Fault in our Stars I devoured, and wished there was more.
17 year-old Hazel has lived with a terminal cancer diagnoses for year, living a kind of half life between treatments and illness. When she meets Gus, her life suddenly takes on a surprising twist of normalcy where she finds her heart opened wide and that life has so much more involved than waiting to die.
I really enjoyed it, it was really well written and and it was a really good read.... though I do have to warn you, I cried at the end.

Sounds like a great book. I think my daughter would enjoy it too. Thanks for your review. Do you think it's age appropriate for a 15yr old?
ReplyDeleteThe teens DO have sex in the book. So consider that in your decision.

ReplyDeleteMy 15 year old daughter is a huge fan of novelist (and Nerdfighter) John Green. We read this book together... laughing, crying and every emotion in-between! Great story from a wonderful writer.
