The Chaperone....

I have to tell you, this one is a good one, and I found it to be an easy read.
It is loosely based around silent film star Louise Brooks, focusing on her appointed chaperone  Cora Carlisle.
At 36, Cora seems a bit like an old lady compared to 15 year old wild-child Louise. It really highlights what a different time it was. 36 was considered over the hill in the 1920's and it's interesting how even though those times were so much more socially restrictive, deep down, things haven't really changed... It highlights how proper Cora, who is searching for her own answers to life, isn't as proper as we think as her life opens up to us.
It was a good page turner and definitely a good pool-side read.
