Make mini-flag buntings....

I've been making these little buntings out of paper string and vintage sheet music;
I think they are so sweet and so easy to make!
I found the paper string at Ikea. I wish I had bought more when I saw it, when I went back they were totally  cleaned out.
Just fold your sheet music over in the size you want your little flags.
Make a teeny angle cut and then snip that piece off.
Once you have quite  a few done, you can start building your bunting.
Dab  a bit of white, tacky glue in the center and fold it over the string, let it dry and viola!
Your mini-bunting is ready to go!

Holiday chalkboard art...

With the house tour coming up; I thought I would have some fun with some chalkboard art in my front entry. I sketched up a Santa and then added the lettering. I cheated on the lettering and did a transfer technique that I have used in the past to paint patterns and motifs on furniture.
It was fun to mix the fonts. I just printed them out in the size I wanted on my computer, right side up.
Instead of pencil on the back of the paper, you just rub chalk on the back side, tape it up where you want it to go, and trace over your text on the right side. It transfers just enough to see so you can darken your lines. I saw that suggestion some where on Pinterest(of course). I wish I knew who came up with it, I'd credit them. Pure Genius!
I like that he looks like when he laughs, it would be like  a bowlful of jelly.
He's a jolly old soul. After I was done, I started wondering if that saying was really Santa, or was that from Old King Cole?
It belongs to Santa now! I wanted to write "He's watching you", you know, as motivation for the children  to not beat the snot out of each other, but I thought it might be a bit freaky.
I am so excited getting everything ready for the walk! Hopefully Santa will still be here! The minute I finished the kids asked me when they can add to my artwork. :)

Fabulously creative Friday linky party!

I decided to get the party up early this morning and  give you something to peek at while you had the turkey in the oven:) We are just  having  quiet family dinner here. I have a turkey breast and some mashed sweet potatoes and marshmallows on the ready. I was thinking about getting up and painting in my pajamas, and then I realized that it is already way past my bedtime so there is a good chance I am going to sleep in tomorrow until the voices of fighting children wake me up. :)

The Concrete Cottage made these really cute pillows from napkins

Bella Nest shared her pretty dining room
Love the Giver made this really awesome jute wreath. How I love me a jute wreath.
And how about some beadboard love over at Forever Cottage? Have I ever mentioned how Jill's is one of my favorite homes ever?If you get a chance, tour around her home a little. It's just lovely. She has  a fab eye.

Well, Happy Turkey Day! Link up all of your creative things!Linky love is not required, but it is appreciated! Please link to your exact post and not just your general blog.

The 24 Karat (from the yard) Thanksgiving arrangement.....

You have to love Metallic gold spray paint for it's ability to make anything good. Especially some dried bits and pieces from my yard. That's me and the holiday's. If I can put metallic or put glitter on it, I am there!
I had some Krylon gold and copper spray paint and wanted to do a little Thanksgiving arrangement. It was as easy as hunting around my yard for  dried flower stems. I leave a lot of my stems and flower heads alone all winter such as grasses,Black-Eyed Susan's,Monarda and Hydrangeas not only for winter interest, but I love that the bird's can still find food in the coldest and snowiest of January.
I cut a bit of all of those things and out them on a box in the backyard. I spray painted some gold and some copper.
Once they dried, I put them in a vase that I covered with an old sweater sleeve and a band of sparkly tape.
I love how the same gold paint looks different on the grass heads and the Hydrangeas. The copper- colored Monarda heads are a pretty contrast.
The Hydrangeas almost look fake. They looks so pretty painted gold (can I tell you how glad that I have spell check....So far I've spelled Hydrangeas wrong every time.).
And I think the sweater sleeve dresses up the plain glass vase just enough.
It's a perfect size mantel piece!

3 French hens.....

The show this weekend was AMAZING. Not only did vendors have beautiful booth's but the traffic was so heavy, it was wall to wall people, which was fantastic for the vendors. It was a great show!
I was able to quickly run around and snap a few picture with my ipad for you, so I apologize for the quality.
I was able to get a few of my booth and then a few of the others as well. My hubby and brother did an amazing job helping me hang the branches and lights. They take direction very well :)  .

Some of the other booths were so pretty. I wish I could have shopped. I had some people tell me that this was one of the best holiday shows they had ever been to.

The Antique Shoppe had great things.
I adore the artwork of Julie Norkus. I am  a huge fan of hers.

and I always adore everything that the super cute Jen has at Fresh Vintage.

I can't wait to go back next year!

My last show of the year is at The Nook in Naperville. So if you are near the area, come and see me!

I am very excited because I am going to bring lots of artwork, something I don't normally do. And I am very glad it's my last show. I know my family is ready for a break and so am I. I want to work on a few other projects I have in the works and something that I haven't been able to devote my full attention to: my kiddos.  They have been so good, but I know it's hard on them.

The Monday after Thanksgiving I am going to put up the house walk list. I am so excited! My tree is going up this week!!
