Repurposed Ladder For Displaying Art Work

Hello lovely readers! It’s Jamie from So Much Better With Age . This one is pretty fun actually. Do you have kids? I always have a problem of where to display my kids’ artwork and I also had the dilemma of what to do this repurposed old ladder.I had the idea to make it into a display ladder. Let me show you how easy it is to transform an old repurposed ladder for displaying artwork.

Here is the old ladder I’ve had for years. I painted it white a long time ago then distressed it. But I always thought it just needed something more such as a pop of color.

I decided to try painting it with these Chalky Finish paints from Americana Decor as well as adding the creme wax and brush over the top. The dark grey paint is called Relic.

This is what it looked like after I painted it with the dark grey and then distressed it by removing some of the paint with sandpaper.

And this is the area in my foyer where we currently display the kids’ artwork. Tiny area for lots of artwork!

And now the finished results of the ladder in my hallway! The creme wax really brings out the color of the paint and the wood.

Love how the distressed paint job looks on this ladder. It’s the perfect color grey! If you love repurposing, see how to repurpose a glass lamp shade into a terrarium.

I wrapped some twine around the top and hung it up with a large drywall screw. Think I’ll put an anchor in too.

To create the artwork hanging part,  you’ll need to screw in eyelets on either side of the ladder and then thread some hanging wire through the eyelet screws. That’s it! Just use clips or clothespins to hang artwork to the ladder.

I think it’s pretty cool and the perfect way to repurpose a ladder!

Isn’t this repurposed ladder for displaying artwork the perfect fit for this wall and to hold the artwork!

    1. It’s actually a little ladder to an attic in an old house. Displaying linens is a brilliant idea!
