Valentine’s inspired heart chair

Hey there! It’s Angela from Number Fifty-Three and I am so in love with this Valentine’s Day project I am sharing with you all today!
A Valentine’s inspired heart chair!

White painted heart chair with pink heart decorations sits in front of a blackboard wall. A pink heart garland drapes across the top, adding a Valentine-inspired touch to this charming setting.

This year, I wanted to create some holiday projects in the traditional colors.

The heart chair, crafted from white wood with a charming pink heart design, stands gracefully on a wooden floor. Nearby, a mini deer head perches on books, while a pink heart garland adorns the chalkboard wall.
I found this vintage chair while out furniture hunting. It was super sturdy and had a nice flat seat that I knew would be perfect for adding a heart detail.

I started out by painting the entire chair in white chalk paint. Sometimes, I gravitate towards chalk paint because it doesn’t require as much prep as other paints.

After a couple of coats I let the chair thoroughly dry and then distressed it with medium grit sandpaper.

There are a few options for the heart. You could purchase a stencil, draw it free hand or trace something. I chose the latter. I just simply searched for a heart image online, printed it on card stock, cut it out and traced it onto the center of my chair.

I then used an artist brush to hand paint the heart in fluorescent pink…I believe it is called Date Night by Martha Stewart.  When the heart was dry, I went back in and did a final distressing of the seat, paying extra attention to the heart.  I love the combination of the modern color with the chippy finish!

Lastly, I gave the entire chair a coat of wax to protect it.  Couldn’t you also picture this in a little girls room! So super sweet!
